Each skill: how I use it and what it achieves.

In my day to day

  • Power BI
  • Azure Databricks
  • SQL
  • SAP BusinessObjects
  • Stakeholders & requirements
  • Claude
Skill How I use it and what for
SQL (T-SQL and PL/SQL) Analytical queries with window functions and WITH clauses, and large stored procedures (over 8,000 lines) with loops, variables and parameters, on SQL Server (T-SQL) and Oracle (PL/SQL), so reports start from correct figures.
Power BI, DAX and Power Query I build reports from scratch and reusable models, with DAX for the business logic and Power Query to prepare the data, so the business reads fast and trusts what it sees.
SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Analytics Cloud I develop and maintain reports, manage development and production environments, run migrations and train teams, so corporate BI platforms keep running and stay governed.
SAP Data Services (ETL) I load, integrate and transform data between systems, to feed models and reports with clean, consolidated data.
Data modelling and semantic models I design models, from SAP IDT universes to Power BI semantic models, with no duplicates, relational integrity and parameters, so they are easy to explain and cheap to change.
SAP HANA, SAP IQ, SQL Server and Oracle I work with them as sources and targets of data, to connect reports with the systems where the real data lives.
Client and stakeholder relationships I gather requirements, validate deliverables and talk directly to the business, to turn what they need into an analytical solution that answers a real decision.
Team leadership and training I led a team of 3 on a project (planning and delivery) and taught SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Analytics Cloud courses, so client teams can work independently.
Row-level security (RLS) I restrict which data each person sees within a single report, so it can be shared with several users without exposing information that is not theirs.
Agile / Scrum, Jira and Confluence I work in Scrum teams, with the work in Jira and the documentation in Confluence, to deliver iteratively and with traceability.
Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog I build and maintain notebooks on Silver and Gold tables governed with Unity Catalog, to prepare in an orderly way the data that Power BI consumes.
Applied AI I use it for specific tasks and as support for documentation, always reviewing the result, to save time without losing rigour.
